Create a Listing!Atlanta, Georgia, is very friendly to pets. With more and more people flocking to ATL with their pups, you will see dogs strolling around from the city center to East Atlanta. There are very few (if any) outdoor public spaces where dogs aren’t allowed. Many restaurants have outdoor seating, which allows you to bring your pet on a leash and dine outside with them.
There is no shortage of dog-approved lodging, either. You will find plenty of pet-friendly accommodations in Atlanta, including vacation rentals ranging from condos to unique and quirky stays. No matter if you choose a quiet oasis in Little Five Points or a more lively spot closer to Tech Square, we think you and your pet will love the diversity and comfort of Atlanta.
If you happen to need a kennel or boarding service, Atlanta has plenty to choose from: Dog Days Buckhead, Dog Days Midtown, Bark ATL, and more.
What makes Atlanta such a fun pet-friendly travel destination is the myriad of things to do with your pup. Start with the Murphety Candler Trail for a morning stroll. This two-mile walking loop circles Murphey Candler Lake and offers views of the lake and woody lands.
Next, head to Centennial Olympic Park, Atlanta’s most famous park. Centennial is 21 acres of green space that cuts through downtown and holds the famous SkyView Ferris Wheel. While you can’t bring your pet into the gondolas (service animals only), you can enjoy watching people get on the ride and enjoy all the rest that Centennial offers. Special events are often held here, such as the Fourth of July celebration in the summer (dog friendly) and a popup ice skating rink in the winter.
Just walking around Atlanta is fun enough. Why not turn it into a scavenger hunt? Search for the tiny doors of ATL—an art project that turns old doors, walls, and bridge columns into an art installation. Pose your pup next to one of these hidden art treasures for cute photos.
The Atlanta Beltline is a pet-friendly attraction you don’t want to miss. This former railway corridor runs around the core of Atlanta and is one of the biggest urban redevelopment programs in the area. Take the east trail and walk, run, or bike with your dog. You will enjoy public art installations, shops, and places to stop for a bite to eat along the way.
Head to Krog Street Tunnel for another interesting, fun walk. This tunnel is a short walk along an elevated walkway with railing. You can take pictures with your pup next to the art installations within the tunnel.
Piedmont Park is another pet-friendly attraction in Atlanta, Georgia, that your pup will enjoy. Piedmont dog park is one of the city’s best dog parks. Let your dog off their leash so they can run wild. This park is so popular that it draws in about a million dogs every year.
